Pitlochry
Pitlochry was created as a Victorian town, which developed into a tourist resort due to Queen Victoria visiting the area in 1842. Today, it is a vibrant holiday town best known for the famous Pitlochry Festival Theatre, the theatre in the hills, while the very active Pitlochry in Bloom group ensures there is is a riot of colour throughout the summer. Ben Y Vrackie, overlooking the town, is perhaps our best loved Corbett, with a well signed footpath to its highest point.
Pitlochry offers a real concentration of accommodation options, which is just as well, as the Pitlochry Festival Theatre welcomes tens of thousands every year to its summer programme of six plays. It also boasts a lively assortment of shops for visitors, two distillery visitor centres, and a great paths network starting from the very centre of town, while its location means that all parts of Highland Perthshire are readily accessible.
