The best starting point the Visitor Information Centre in Pitlochry (see map) from where the walk is clearly signposted (you can also pick up the Piltlochry walks guide here). There is also a car park adjacent.

 

Discover the Dane's Stone (circa second millennium B.C.), the ruins of Caisteal Dubh (Black Castle), built approximately 1326, and the site of Moulin Market - once the largest in Atholl in days gone by. Discover how Pitlochry, due to the construction of General Wade's Road after the Jacobite uprisings and the opening of the Highland Railway in 1865, eclipsed its neighbour to become one of the most popular visitor destinations in Scotland - whilst still retaining the charm and character that pleased Queen Victoria so much when she visited the area in 1842.
