Starting out from the Ferry Road car park, the path leads through Bobbin Mill Wood and over the bouncy Port-na-Craig suspension bridge.
Take care when crossing the A9. The next part of this walk is quite steep, as the track climbs past Middleton of Fonab towards Fonab Hill, zigzagging though Fonab Woods until the final stretch of the ascent is along a well-made path weaving its way amongst the trees. Past Carra Beag (Little rock) and the standing stones of Clachan an Diridh, the terrain changes to open heathery moorland with superb distant views of Ben Vrackie.
The last part of the walk is though Clunie Wood to a grassy track that leads back to Pitlochry.
N.B. Certain walks may be temporarily closed during forestry operations or for deer stalking. Please obey warning notices.
