The Cuilc, Pitlochry

The name 'Cuilc' (both 'c's' are pronounced hard) is Gaelic for 'reeds'. Formerly a marsh where farmers used to dig for marl, since 1815 it has been classed as a small loch. Situated at the base of Pitlochry Golf Club, it is especially picturesque during the summer months. Home to a family of swans, it is also a great place to visit with children to feed the many ducks who waddle around the banks.
