Starting on Station Road in Birnam, cycle down the steps under the A9 and up the other side, go straight over and continue uphill, go straight on and follow the Inchewan Burn as it winds its way up Birnam Glen. When you reach a green signpost turn off to the right and go over a small bridge and follow this path, turn left then left again. This fire road will bring you out to another green signpost, take this path on the left, bear left and continue uphill and through the gate. Turn right at the fire road and whizz downhill, watching out for the potholes and any cars coming up. Cross the road and onto a nice little bit of singletrack, which will bring you out onto a road, turn right along the road, then go through the gate on your right. After the next gate turn right and head down through the Hermitage, look out for the little bus stops and singletrack options on the left hand side. This path can be busy with walkers and dogs so take care. Once out in the car park head along the small path next to the A9, cycle through Inver, take the path on the left, and over the wooden bridge and under the A9. If you take a left this will follow the river all the way back to Birnam past the big old Birnam Oak, take the right up the steps at the signpost, then follow the road back to Station Road.

The Dunkeld & Birnam Path Network leaflet gives a great overview of all the paths available in the area, including Birnam Hill. It is available from Visitor Information Centres, as well as a pdf from the Perth & Kinross Council website.
