Starting at the Glen Tilt Car Park, this walk passes the Victorian Home Farm at Balanloan, an organically run working farm today specialising in the hardy hill breed of suckler cow such as the Luing and traditional blackface sheep. Up the hill through the Birch Wood, it is well worth the extra 100m to enjoy the view from the Glen Tilt Viewpoint. As you head downhilll, you'll see the steep gorge that the River Tilt flows though. This is a site of Special Scientific Interest due to the abundance of rare flowers such as cow-wheat and herb Paris.
A full-colour booklet, featuring maps and photographs, is available printed for £1.20 from Atholl Estates Information Centre (seasonal), Blair Castle Gift Shop, Blair Castle Caravan Park reception or Pitlochry Tourist Information Centre. The booklet can also be downloaded as a pdf (see below).
